Greatly speeds up Windsor chair seat-shaping
This highly-aggressive tool has greatly speeded-up Windsor chair seat-shaping by students on chair making courses. The very coarse face is excellent for rapid stock removal. When the tool is new it is extremely sharp and the wearing of gloves is highly recommended to protect the hands.
Unaffected by the direction or toughness of the wood this rasp is ideal for shaping otherwise difficult end-grain.
The milder reverse surface will rapidly create a very smooth surface that is almost as good as if the wood had been spokeshaved. In fact the combination of the two tools is very powerful and will allow the shaping and finishing of even the most tricky woods.
Rasp marks are frequently visible on antique Windsor chairs showing how popular rasps have been in the past.
Hardwood handle with excellent grip
Supplied with a comfortable hardwood handle which gives excellent grip. A heavyweight brass ferrule completes the tool.
The tool is supplied with the handle unfitted for ease of shipping. Heat the tang of the rasp with a blowtorch and then press it into the pre-drilled handle. Remember to wear gloves during this operation to prevent severe cuts of the hands.
